This is the second part of programming for wood design based on the Canadian Code CSA O86, 2019 version. In this post, I have discussed the design and programming for build-up beams, NLT (nail-laminated timber), GLT (glue-laminated timber), and CLT (cross-laminated timber) panels. I will explain the design flowcharts for build-up beams, nail-laminated timber, glue-laminated timber, and cross-laminated timber.
Next, we will examine three examples and calculate each using three methods: Wood Design Manual selection tables, hand calculations, and software calculations. Our references are the Canadian Code CSA O86, 2019 version, and the Wood Design Manual, 2020 edition.
